Barney Saltzberg's Extended Biography

Barney Saltzberg is a children's book author, illustrator and singer songwriter. (Dad and carpool chauffeur!) Barney has written and illustrated many books for children including the best selling Animal Kisses, Baby Animal Kisses (Children's Book of the Month Club main selection) and Peekaboo Kisses. Barney is finishing up Goodnight Kisses - A sleepy song CD to go along with the Kiss books.

His book, The Soccer Mom From Outer Space is a Junior Library Guild Selection, Parents Choice Selection a California Young Reader Medal nominee and the winner of the Virginia Young Reader Medal.

Barney Saltzberg performs concerts for children everywhere. Well, almost everywhere! He doesn't play at birthday parties. (When your name is Barney and you go to a birthday party, small children expect you to be purple) Barney Saltzberg has performed at Disneyworld, a gazillion schools and libraries and many, many bookstores and children's hospitals across the country.

His songs have been recorded by Shari Lewis for Charlie Horse Music Pizza and on episodes of the PBS hit show, Arthur. Most of his music can be sampled on the music page in this web site!

Barney Saltzberg lives in Los Angeles with his wife and their two children, along with three dogs and a pond of fish.
